Join me in the search for Scotland’s best-kept secret ingredient

I’m on a mission! Over the next few weeks I’m searching for your best-kept ‘secret ingredient’.

I’ve teamed up with Eat Drink Discover Scotland and we want to discover your favourite ingredients from 11 regions across Scotland.

Which Scottish ingredient really makes your favourite dish shine? It could be a herb, it could be a condiment, it might be meat, seafood, a vegetable or even alcohol. As long as it’s either grown or produced in Scotland, it qualifies. I just need to know what it is, where you buy it from, and what you cook with it.

So get your thinking caps on and keep reading this blog as I reveal my inspiration from various regions across Scotland. Be as unpredictable, creative and unusual as you can!

I’ll be inviting a shortlist to join me at a cook-off at foodie flagship event Eat Drink Discover Scotland on Saturday 13th September.

If you’re keen to get ahead of the game, you can email your entry to secret@eatdrinkdiscoverscotland.co.uk. But the date for final submissions is Friday 8th August 2014 – so plenty time.

Visit www.eatdrinkdiscoverscotland.co.uk for terms and conditions.

Eat Drink Discover Scotland, which is taking place at the Royal Highland Centre between 12th and 14th September, will bring to life the rich diversity of Scotland’s brimming larder by featuring exhibitors from the length and breath of the country. One for the foodies, it will be offering something for every palate, plate and price range and with a regional focus, it will be providing opportunities for smaller rural food producers to share centre stage with more established brands. The weekend will also include demonstrations and masterclasses such as chocolate workshops, cocktail making, game butchery and craft bakery.
